Scoliosis Treatment Without Surgery in Lafayette
A clear plan for kids, teens, and adults. Stop the curve from getting worse, ease the pain, and keep surgery off the table if at all possible.
You were told to wait. Or to live with it. Or to get surgery.
Maybe your child’s school sent home a note. Maybe the doctor said, “It’s a 20-degree curve. Come back in six months.”
Maybe you’re an adult whose back hurts more every year. You were told, “That’s just your scoliosis. Live with it.” Or worse, “Surgery is your only option.”
Here is the hard truth. “Wait and see” is not a plan. It just means watching. And “live with it” is not care. It’s giving up.
Scoliosis does not always stay the same. In kids, a curve can grow fast during a growth spurt. In adults, a curve can slowly get worse, and pain can creep in. You may stop gardening, golfing, or sleeping through the night.
You don’t need more worry. You need a clear answer.
That’s what we do here.

Who we are
I’m Dr. Justin Trosclair. I’m certified in ScoliBraceÂŽ and ScoliBalanceÂŽ, and I’ve spent years training in scoliosis care in the United States, China, and Germany. In Germany, I studied a method for adult scoliosis pain using special taping and targeted muscle work.
I wrote the book Scoliosis A to Z and host the A Doctor’s Perspective podcast. But what matters most is this: I’ve sat across from hundreds of worried parents and hurting adults. I know how scary it is to look at an X-ray and not know what comes next.
My job is to be your guide. You make the decisions. I give you the facts, the options, and a plan you can follow.
Families drive to Lafayette from all over Acadiana, and some come from 4 hours away. We can use telehealth check-ins so you don’t have to make the drive every time.
Which one sounds like you?
“My child was just diagnosed.”
Your child is still growing. That is the scary part, and it’s also the good news.
Growth is when a curve can get worse the fastest. But growth is also when a brace can do the most good. It’s like training a young tree. You tie it to a firm stake while it grows, so it grows the way you want. Wait too long, and the tree has already set.
We follow the international SOSORT guidelines for scoliosis care. Our goal for growing kids isn’t just to hold the curve. We aim to reduce it by 20 to 50%. No honest doctor can promise a curve will go to zero, but we aim higher than “don’t get worse.”
“I’m an adult, and my back is getting worse.”
You are far from alone.
Many adults were told nothing can be done without surgery or injections. That’s not true. Your goals are a little different from a teen’s:
- Less pain
- A curve that stops getting worse
- Staying active, doing the things you love
- Keeping surgery off the table
Research shows that bracing and scoliosis-specific exercises can help adults with pain and function, and can slow curve progression, even in larger curves.

What makes our approach different
Most places offer one tool. A brace. Or physical therapy. Or a pain pill. Scoliosis is a 3D problem: the spine bends side to side, twists, and changes front to back. It needs a plan that works on all three.
ScoliBraceÂŽ
A custom brace made from a 3D scan of your body. It works on the bend, the twist, and the front-to-back shape. It’s built to correct, not just to hold. Kids wear it most of the day. Adults often wear it about 5 to 6 hours a day.
ScoliBalanceÂŽ
Exercises made just for scoliosis. You learn how to hold your spine in a better position and build the muscles that keep it there. Not generic gym work. Built for your curve.
Scoliosis Activity Suit
A great option for many adults. Gentle bands help your muscles pull your body into better posture as you go about your day. In one study, 79% gained 6 degrees or more of correction, and over half had less pain.
Pain relief tools, when you need them
Pain can keep you from doing your exercises or wearing your brace. So we treat it, too. Not everyone needs all of these. We use what your body needs, and nothing more.
German Scoliosis Taping Technique
Some adults hurt every day from their curve, and regular tape doesn’t hold up. Dr. Trosclair spent two years at Intellispine in Cologne, Germany, learning a taping method made just for adult scoliosis pain. It pairs special taping with focused work on the muscles that pull your spine off balance.
We use our own A Doctor’s Perspective Tape. It’s made of nylon, not cotton like most kinesiology tape. It wicks away sweat and stays on for 3 to 5 days, even in a Louisiana summer.
The goal: less pain, an easier time staying active, and relief that keeps working between visits.
