Is Being Bored Is Bad For Your Health

All of us get bored at one time or another in our lives. But what
about being bored all the time? That can’t be a good thing, can it?

Not according to new research from the International Journal of
Epidemiology, April 10 edition.

Experts say there’s a possibility that the more bored you are, the
more likely you are to die early.

Researchers analyzed questionnaires completed between 1985 and 1988
by more than 7,500 London civil servants. The civil servants were
asked if they had felt bored at work during the previous month. The
researchers then tracked down how many of the participants had died
by April 2009.

Those who reported they had been very bored were two and a half
times more likely to die of a heart problem than those who hadn’t
reported being bored.
So if you find yourself getting bored all the time, consider one of
these suggestions:

  1. Do More of What You Love. Everybody enjoys doing “something.”
The problem is, sometimes we become so busy that we forget to take
time for ourselves. Find a way to include one of your favorite
activities into your busy schedule more often.
  2. Try something new. If you’re like most people, you probably have
a list of things you’d like to do or try. So try it! Make the
commitment to get started and see how it goes.
  3. Spend more time with friends and families. Human beings are
happiest when they are around people they enjoy. DO NOT underestimate
the power and necessity of your family and your friendships. Spend
quality time with your friends and family. Invite people over for a
BBQ and board games. Host a poker night. Organize a night on the
town. The bottom line is STAY CONNECTED with the people closest to
you and DO THINGS with them. It’s boring isolating yourself from the
    world and being alone.

Have a great day and I’ll talk to you soon!
Sincerely,
Dr. Justin Trosclair
