Most people I know eat meat in their diet. Whether it’s beef,
pork, chicken, or fish, the majority of people include either some
or all of these meats in their diets.
But what meat is the best nutritionally? Most would argue it’s fish
or chicken, but guess what? Neither is the correct answer. The
correct answer would be bison (buffalo) meat.
Bison meat is the leanest mean you can eat. It has the fewest
calories, the lowest fat content, and the lowest cholesterol
content. Check out these nutritional statistics for a 3.5 ounce
serving:
Bison (buffalo)
Fat: 2.42 grams
Calories: 143
Cholesterol: 82
Chicken, roasted
Fat: 7.41 grams
Calories: 190
Cholesterol: 89
Salmon (sockeye)
Fat: 10.97
Calories: 216
Cholesterol: 87
Beef (Select)

Bison meat is becoming more readily available. Costco is starting
to carry ground bison, bison steaks, and more. Natural grocers
like Whole Foods or stores similar will carry ground buffalo. And
if you Google “bison meat” or “buffalo meat” you will find numerous
ranches that sell bison meat.
If you like red meat and are health conscious, then consider adding
bison meat to your diet. It’s very nutritious and it tastes really
good.
Have a great day and I’ll see you soon!
