I was thinking the other day about something. I was thinking, “How
are some people able to get so much done?” “Why are some people
with super busy schedules so much less stressed than others?”
Well, I don’t have all the answers, but I do know this:
Top level performers don’t live in a state of fear.
They live in a state of management.
Because management gets results. Fear doesn’t.
Management Requires Focus
So what is “focus” anyways? An easy way to look at it is this…
Landing one plane at a time.
If you were an air traffic controller at LAX Airport in Los
Angeles, and there are 65 planes circling the airport, what do you
do? You land one plane, then the next plane, then the next plane,
then the next.
You don’t try to land them all at once.
Focus in a practical sense is the ability to get things done.
Accomplishing things you want to do.
Many people are over-scheduled and have “Too Much” too do. And
this creates stress. And then the stress affects your health and
attitude.
The thing is, you can do several things at once. In today’s world
you have to. But you have to land one plane at a time.
Focus on that book you’re reading. Focus on completing your 90 day
workout program. Focus on eating better for 30 days. Focus on
whatever you need to focus on.
But don’t start stuff and stop halfway through. That will
discourage you.
Instead, focus on completing your tasks.
Land your planes, one at a time.
It’s just life that we are busy, stressed, and overworked. The key
is to MANAGE it!
Go land your planes…
Have a great day and I’ll talk to you soon!
