Thanksgiving bust

I had a small gathering the other night and we cooked.  This time I cooked the blackened pork and they did the rest.  3 types of green beans were sautéed with garlic and of course was delicious.

Xipiao (it’s a rice chip that you deep fry) was the appetizer and it’s very airy, It tastes okay I guess.

On to thanksgiving stuff.  The day before T-giving I went get my blazer altered.  I lost weight and it just fit really bad.  Sure I might gain weight when back in the states, but it seems a popular thing to wear here, so I think I will risk it.  Really hope to not gain to much back anyway.  Join a gym, keep doing cardio…you know the drill.

I think the 2 months of travel and not caring caught up to me quick.  ANYWAY, back to thanksgiving.  The jacket was altered, but I think it could have been done slightly different, because now the sleeves by my arms are a little tight if I raise them both up.

Blah! I’ll take it back and see what he can do for it. Hopefully something.  I was like, okay at dinner just don’t raise them both up at the same time.

I took everyone out to a place that  a patient owns.  Food was quite good.  Surprisingly impressed based on the fact that it didn’t seem like a place that catered to big crowds.  It started out pretty good.

Once the boss got there apparently he said somethings and it turned into another business type function.

Let me back track a second, we were in one room but it had a divider in it and it took two tables…so we were split up but could still here each other.  I went to both rooms and what I wanted was to listen to everyone say 1 or 2 things that they are thankful for and why.

Can’t get more thanksgiving table than that can ya.  Well, I shared about my supportive parents for understanding about me coming here and helping stay connected and taking care of my America stuff, for good friends and thankful for Ling and all she does to help make this place easier to live.

Then boss said stuff.  Every person after that said a real thanks and why about their parents but then they all said something along the lines of How grateful they were to have a job and work in the hospital.

At first I was like um really, well ok. But I found out later it was a way of showing respect to boss.  A little disappointed about that but whatever, they enjoyed themselves and it was the first time they Celebrated it…and only even heard about it but 2-3 years ago.

Don’t be fooled by the round table though.  It may kind of seem all equal, but the quest of honor sits opposite the door, and then the #2 sits on the left and right.  Also, it’s not to uncommon to toast the group but it’s done individually based on who is #1 and down you go.  Personally I think that is a little insulting.. I mean someone has to be last, and therefore least important.. :/

People had a good time (even though one or two people were a bit rude and ordered more food before asking).    KTV was even fun for a little while but the usual suspect bumped my songs… all I’m asking for is like 5 to 1 ratio of chinese to English. That doesn’t seem so bad does it?

That way I can have a little fun too, not like I’m understanding the songs or able to talk to anyone (phone translate talk is not quite the same but it’s what I have).

UM, I think this whole article has a negative vibe…. Well it was still enjoyable.
