Soft Drinks Do What to Our Body

As you probably know, soft drinks aren’t very healthy for you. I’m
sure you already know that.

But what you might not know is “why” soft drinks are so unhealthy,
or “what” they are doing to your body if you drink them regularly.

So here’s the skinny on soft drinks and your health:

  • Soft drinks contain little to no vitamins, or other essential nutrients. They do, however, contain cheap sugar, or worse, sugar substitutes, food additives, artificial coloring, artificial flavoring, and preservatives.
  • Research has found that regular consumption of soft drinks, especially in children, leads to health problems such as tooth
decay, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.
  • Soft drinks contain a lot more sugar than you might think. The USDA recommends a simple sugar intake of 10 teaspoons per day. One can of most soft drinks contain more than 10 teaspoons of sugar!
  • Excess sugar in your body ends up being stored as fat. So if you are consuming more sugar than you should, it will not only result in weight gain, but it will also increase your risk for heart disease and cancer. Why cancer? Because cancer cells LOVE sugar.
  • One study found that drinking one or more soft drinks per day, regardless of if it is diet or regular, led to a 30% greater chance of weight gain around the belly.
  • Most diet sodas are filled with artificial sweeteners that can be harmful to your health. Research kind of goes back n forth on the is it good/bad.

So here’s the thing. I’m not saying that you should NEVER have a soda pop. Even I occasionally will have one. The key to all diet matters is MODERATION. If you are someone who consumes large quantities of soda pop each and every month, then you ought to cut back because it’ll do your body and your health some good.
Let me know if you have any questions, and if you have any friends
or family members that you think consume too much soda pop, share
this information with them!

I love the idea of small changes making big impacts in time.

I like it so much I wrote a book that encompasses most of these topics. Grab 4 chapter free
