Pain is the warning signal your body gives to let you know something’s wrong
By the time you feel pain, the disease or health
problem is not a new problem, it’s been there a while
When it comes to health in America, what do most people focus on?
That’s right, pain. So what is pain?
[Tweet “#Pain is the #warning signal your body gives to let you know something’s wrong”]Pain is the warning signal your body gives to let you know
something’s wrong. Let me illustrate what pain is with a story.
Let’s say you are cooking dinner in your kitchen. The phone rings
and when you answer it, you hear the voice of your best friend. You
start chatting away and before you know it you’ve forgotten that
you’ve got dinner cooking on the stove.
All of a sudden you hear a loud blaring siren noise. You instantly
realize it’s your smoke alarm! You run into the kitchen and see a
fire on the stove. Smoke is billowing everywhere!
The smoke from the fire caused your smoke alarm to go off. The smoke
alarm alerted you that there’s a fire in your kitchen.
At this point, what do you do?
Well, one option would be to focus on putting out the fire. That
seems like the most logical thing to do. What do you think?
A second option would be to get out your ladder and turn off the
smoke alarm. Don’t worry about the fire; just get rid of that loud
obnoxious noise.
Would you choose the second option? Does it even make sense to turn
off the smoke alarm and ignore the fire and let it continue to burn?
Not really.
I hope you’d choose to focus on putting out the fire . The only
reason the smoke alarm is even making noise in the first place is
because of the fire. So we have a cause (the fire), and an effect
(the smoke alarm going off).
Wouldn’t you solve BOTH problems by putting out the fire? If you put
out the fire, you no longer have a fire and you also don’t have a
smoke alarm blaring. Make sense?
Now let’s go back to learning about pain. Like I said before, pain
is your body’s warning signal that something is wrong. It’s a
signal just like the smoke alarm.
Unfortunately, when it comes to health, people make the mistake of
focusing only on their pain, and not what’s causing it.
If it doesn’t make sense to turn off the smoke alarm and leave the
fire burning, it shouldn’t make sense to focus only on the pain
either.
Pain is an effect. It always has a cause. And here’s the secret I
want to share with you today: The people who have optimal health
focus on healing THE CAUSE of their pain and symptoms.
Read that again. It’s extremely important.
When you focus on healing the cause of pain, you not only get rid of
the pain that’s bugging you – you also have have a stronger and
healthier body. (which is something you should want!)
If you only focus on the pain, then you never really solved the most
important problem. Your body will still have problems and your
pain will most likely come back.
Does this make sense?
Is pain a bad thing? Most people think it is. I disagree. Pain is
very helpful. Without feeling pain, how would you know something was
wrong with your body?
What about being pain free? If we don’t have pain, then are we
healthy? Not necessarily. There are many diseases and health
problems that begin in your body without pain.
Cancer, cavities, high blood pressure, and back problems are just
a few. Often, by the time you feel pain, the disease or health
problem is not a new problem…it’s advanced.
So remember these two things:
1. Make the commitment to heal the CAUSE of your pain. It’s a
better choice.
2. Take care of yourself even when you feel good. Health problems
may be developing even when you are pain free.
Have a great day!
